Industry research firm Gartner predicts that 60 percent of enterprises will have adopted some form of desktop virtualization by the end of 2012.

FoxNet technology consultant Erik Jenner is an expert in installing and configuring VMware View 5 (VMware VDI), technology that allows desktop administrators to virtualize the operating system, applications, and user data and deliver modern desktops to end-users.

Erik has been putting his expertise to work at our client Lambton College in Sarnia, where he recently installed and configured VMware View Connection Server, and two desktop pools, which will over time support up to 200 desktops, including administration staff workstations (supporting faculty) and library desktops supporting Lambton College’s 12,000 students.

FoxNet is Firing on All Cylinders!

FoxNet’s business is firing on all cylinders as we conclude the first quarter of 2012, and we expect this momentum to continue throughout the year as many of our clients engage in a ‘refresh’ of their IT infrastructure. IT spending is up, according to Gartner and other industry pundits, but we still see a conservative edge to our client’s buying patterns. They are being smart with their infrastructure investments, and are spending in areas where they can achieve the highest and quickest rate of return.

FoxNet teams are busy with a number of major client engagements, including storage refresh and SAP refresh projects, and we’re involved in a number of desktop virtualization projects, the latter a reflection of increased client confidence in the technologies now available in the marketplace. The ROI is proven, and the technology has matured to a point where we can deliver a very solid solution for desktop virtualization. As more clients take advantage of a centralized solution, we expect this part of our business to continue to grow.

We’re also excited to announce a new partnership with ServiceNow, a cloud application provider. This relationship, along with HP and VMWare’s cloud-based offerings, will allow FoxNet to step more fully into the Cloud-enablement space to serve as a strategic advisor to clients looking to craft and implement a Cloud-based strategy for their business.

Our team is also growing. We’re excited to let you know we have recently expanded our sales team adding Kevin Dickson to handle inside sales for the company. Kevin joins FoxNet from Synnex, and he will help us expand into new accounts,in addition to offering more backline support for existing accounts.

Finally, 2012 marks a significant milestone for our business. We turn 10 years old this year (for those who know us, that might be a stretch in terms of describing our emotional maturity) and we’ll be celebrating our 10^th year with a number of special events – including a huge birthday bash in June for clients and business partners. Watch this space, as we’ve been able to land a major Canadian artist to perform at the event (I promise you it’s not Celine Dion) – and we’ll be providing updates in the coming months.

Red Cap Ale from the Brick Brewery

Any of you that know us here at FoxNet know that we appreciate our suds! As a regular blog feature we are pleased to offer you a tour of the world of beer.

This week, we’re keeping our tasting journey close to home, looking at Red Cap Ale from the Brick Brewery (check our events section for details on our coming customer appreciation night at the Brick). Red Cap is a multi-award winning North American Style Golden Ale. It was Canada’s most popular beer in the 50s and 60s, owning almost half the market at one point.

Brewed to the original Carling recipe, Red Cap has been honoured with multiple awards from both the Canadian and Ontario Brewing Awards and has also captured an award at the World Beer Cup Competition!
